Confused Love Poems – 50 Best Poems About Confused Feelings In Love

1, Broken, Confused, And Hurt © Kimberly Santistevan

The words can not explain what I feel
But I am broken inside.

I knew something would go wrong
I knew something he wasn’t telling me.

Was my love enough?
Was it just too much?

Don’t want to face the world
Don’t want them to see my tears.

Maybe some how I can fix this
He means so much more to me than I know myself.
Don’t know what is going to happen now.

One part of my heart just wants to let go
Another wants to hang on and fix it.

The words that I feel
I can not form to say.

Don’t want to worry anymore
Don’t want to feel this way.

Love is never the same
It seems to always fade away.

So many things remind me of him
What shall I do then?

Don’t know which way to go
Don’t want to lose him.

Just sitting here thinking of what I heard him say
Hoping and praying it will all soon be okay.

I love him more than anything
I know he loves me too.

Just don’t know if it will last
I just hope this will pass.

2, My Babe © Crystal

Together we may struggle
but without you all I feel is pain.
Sometimes I may seem confused
but there is one thing that will never change.

The feelings I have for you don’t fade or go away.
They continue to grow stronger each day with every kiss.
Life without you is something I can’t imagine.
From within my soul, it’s you I’d miss.

I understand this world more then you may know.
I could believe in fate and put up a fight.
But you and I are not written.
Although there is a truth I’d like to write.

We both have scars,
with memories that can not be erased,
but together we are stronger.
In your hands my heart has been placed.

This is a choice I have made.
I understand the risk I take.
Please hold my heart dear to you.
Careful to never break.

If you do stumble or fall,
please don’t forget to gather all the pieces.
It’s your choice of what to do with them.
My love for you never ceases.

3, Confused Questioning © Jennifer Woodland

Have I come too far
To turn back now
Will this be my only love
My heart and mind constantly fight
Who is right
Should I stay or go
Do I love you or not
What is love
Am I insane for questioning
Or insane for staying
Why am I questioning
Should I have sooner
What is love
Am I really in it
Do you question love
I don’t know what to do
My heart and mind find no peace
I have to choose
Though I’m afraid both will hurt.

4, How Are We? © Tim

Please tell me something,
and do not lie.
Is something fading
between you and I?

I’ve noticed changes
in the recent past
and waited patiently,
hoping it wouldn’t last.

I give everything
I can give you,
but what’s given back
seems long overdue.

You say nothing is wrong
and you are just fine,
acting as if
the problem is mine.

Something is different,
not like it was before.
I’m doing my best,
trying to restore

The way we showed love
to one another
without crowding you
or trying to smother.

I just need to know
if one thing is true.
Do you still love me
as much as you used to?

5, Lost And Confused © Oscar Aceves

I’m lost,
And I’m confused,
For I like you,
But I also like her,
You make me feel,
Feel special, Feel wanted,
But she makes me feel the same,
I’m thinking of you,
All day, Everyday,
But something keeps on popping up,
…Her name.
Sometimes I wonder,
If I could claim,
Claim both of you,
But I know that’ll never happen,
I know imma have to choose,
Choose between you and her,
But I don’t wanna lose,
Neither of you,
Know that she’s someone close to you,
I don’t know what to do,
If only I knew,
Who’s the one I want,
If I choose her over you,
I hope you understand,
That I’m sorry things ended up like this and,
And that there will always be,
A place for you waiting,
Waiting in my heart…

6, Heartbroken And Confused © Kelsey Pitts

My heart feels like it’s torn in two,
Why can’t I just be with you?
Everyday another tear,
Everyday a lot more fear.
I want to hold you in my arms,
I want to keep you safe from harm.
I act like things are all okay,
But I really want to run away.
I act like things are all alright,
But always end up in a fight.
I cry more tears than I can count;
Why won’t they just let me out?
I tell myself these things won’t stay,
But I don’t think they’ll go away.

7, A Lost & Confused Girl © Jessica Elizondo

She goes to sleep to stop thinking that horible thought and to stop the

tears from flowing from her blue eyes. She wakes up and its all she

does not to. She misses that feeling, shes misses love. She doesnt tell

her friends and might not because she knows exactly what they’ll say.

She only tells God and hides the secret. She waits trying to be patirnt

and at times fails. She goes outside and watches the sunset and

thinks as the tears fall that she is strong and can do this. But she still

feels the same and she talks to the past as if they can cheer her up

and fill this black whole. But they ignore her and make promises that

wont come true. And all she can do after that is feel like shes done

wrong and blames herself. Shes still waiting and hopes that God will

bring her love soon, because the pain hurts and doesnt know what

else to do.

8, Second Best © Rachel Jane

I have a heart and it’s quite broken.
I read your words as if they were spoken.

You’ll always love her for the rest of your life,
But she didn’t want you; she was another man’s wife.

She used you and left you a shell of a man.
I picked you up and gave you all that I can.

I give you my all, and it’s never enough.
Reading the memoirs you write for her are extremely tough.

I hate a woman I’ve never even met.
She took the best of you, and left you a wreck.

To her, you were merely an escape and a fling.
The day she abandoned you, then you felt her sting.

But why spend so many years trying to turn back time?
I’ve got the punishment for another woman’s crime.

I hate myself for being second best.
I should have left you alone and searched like the rest.

But for you I felt pity, I saw a person to heal.
But my emotions are wasted, you don’t care how I feel.

I should feel loved, wanted and desired.
Instead I feel lonely, weary and tired.

A few words of wisdom to my younger self,
It’s better to be left up on the shelf.

Don’t put up with less than you deserve.
You should always be a priority, never a reserve.

9, Come Back To Me © Kenneth Fordham

The Ink Bottle sits, alone,
It’s only Companions,
The Feathered Pen,
The Paper Pad.

The Desk, once alive,
The Words,
No longer,
Written.

Love, abandon,
But wanting not,
The Freedom,
It has.

A Wooden Chair, dusty,
Reclines not,
For the Comfort,
Once given.

Time, a mystery gone,
With passing,
Never to be recovered,
Longing.

Days of gloom, waiting,
Shine not, The Light,
The Heart,
Once brightened.

Come back, to Me,
My words, of Joy,
Of Laughter,
Wisdom, once known.

10, Loving You © Mary Scott

I can see the pain in your eyes from the hurt in your heart,
and I’d really love to fix it just don’t know where to start.
Every time you let me in a little you shut me right back out,
and it makes me wanna scream,
“I am a grown woman and games are not what I’m about!!!”
But instead I’ll say I love you and I’ll say it a million more times,
if that’s what it takes for you to know for you to acknowledge it in your mind.
I will never hurt here it is on paper in pen,
and I bet if you look at the bottom of these feelings hitting paper
you’ll find my signature at the end.
You have to know I love you, after all this time.
I’m just afraid because when I’m with you my heart is no longer mine.
So this is it I’m giving in.
My white flag has hit the sky.
I’m giving you my everything don’t make me wonder why.
I loved you then, I love you now, and somehow I know I always will.
So for me please take your time, relax your mind, and learn how to chill.

11, Silenced by Anger © Jessica Tulcus

Silenced by anger,
I can’t believe my ears,
you told me that you loved me,
but the truth remains clear.

You lied to me, you selfish jerk,
and it is I, who must pay
for all the love and laughter,
that left me in a daze.

I can’t believe that I listened
to the words that you said.
The truth wasn’t missing,
it was dancing in my head.

You used to act like you loved me,
But I guess the angers fed.
So forgive me as I leave this place,
Selfish, cold, and dead.

12, Free Fall Down Into The Unknown © Steve Escalera

Free fall down into the unknown
give you my heart and relinquish my soul
it’s best for what life shall bestow
so I take a big step in the unknown

Never look back, for this is the choice
don’t question myself, and keep my mind poised
take a look up, thank god and rejoice
because the truth is, I know I made the right choice

So I follow the path and forget the past
this devotion and emotion, I’ll make sure it lasts
with passion so wide and a love so vast
pain and sadness will be things of the past

13, The Despair of In-Between © Laura Breidenthal

How I am torn from even thinking we could be more
What reason do I have to change what we already are?
I make an effort to stop myself from overwhelming you,
And the next moment, you are all over me,
As I, confused, welcome your playful caresses…

And when I offer my own touch,
You quickly, shyly decline,
With a silence in between telling me you want otherwise
I can see it in your eyes…

In this trembling tension, I long to melt with you,
Offering you a deeper place within me,
You inch closer to me with doubt and fear,
And I wonder when the barriers will burst
My thoughts drifting into the glistening doubt of turning tides

In our jokes and laughter,
The love that is evident within us is coated away,
Tucked within each chuckle, pushing me away…
The part of me I long for you to see…

For once, I want to hold you, yes… possessively
Knowing it is not a trivial joke that brought us together
Though here we have not even established mutual affection
As it is evident in your complexion…
I refuse to believe this is all in my head…
It is not by chance that we inch closer to one another
In that shy, shameful hesitance

My love has no shame
It only waits….
You must let go of your uncertainties

But please… do not let me go again…
Do not reject what is rightfully yours…
For it kills me….love, it kills me….
My heart sighs every moment I see the love in your eyes
I curse the laughter that we once have cherished
For now it is merely a tool to mask the shame of our love

I know my words would easily fall into your heart to reassure you,
If only you would let open that door, I would show you….
I would hold you…kiss you, and know you…

14, Will You Ever Love Me? © Derek S. Weaver

When I’m missing you,
I feel a million miles away.
I long for your touch.

When I’m missing you,
I miss that angelic voice
And the laughter that comes with it.

When I’m missing you,
I imagine your lips connecting with mine
And your arms embracing me.

When I’m missing you,
I feel the distance
That separates you from me.

When I’m missing you,
I can’t imagine my life without you.
No more separation.

When I’m missing you,
I know when the time is right
I’d get down on bended knee.

When I’m missing you,
I sometimes dream of you and me,
Happily ever after.

But sometimes…

When I’m missing you,
My heart gets heavy
Not knowing for sure if you miss me.

When I’m missing you,
I often wonder if we’ll ever be together
Or if you even care.

When I’m missing you,
I wonder if I just fill the void
That fills the hole in your heart.

Sometimes…

When I’m missing you,
The thought crosses my mind…
Will you ever love me like I love you?

15, There Once More © Carolyn Devonshire

That sad day when you said, “It’s just not there”
Such sentiments seemed pulled out of the air
For many months we’d loved and lived as one
Sharing dreams under the Florida sun

Our hopes were cast like nets into the sea
Never did I think they’d come up empty
What caused this shift was not for me to know
As ‘neath the rays I wallowed far below

Searching for answers, wiping tears from my eyes
I longed to make sense, but reason defied
Until I found the hidden doctor’s note
And learned your survival now seemed remote

I fought my way back into your strong arms
To stand again with you and ease the harm

16, I Wish He Knew © Maddie

I wish he could know
What I’m too scared to show.
I wish he could see
Just how much he means to me.
I wish he could tell
That I know him so well.
I wish he could feel
My love that is real.
I wish he could hear
The things that I fear
About him never knowing
That my love for him is growing.

17, What We Had Was Only a Tale © Laura Breidenthal

Here’s to a love that never existed!
And to the departing you insisted,
Let me give in to all I’ve resisted
It is true through our frivolous trail
Our lives were but a tale;
Though if I hadn’t thought of it
Pure hearts indefinite,
Not mattering even then,
Would I ever believe again?
We never win, we never fail
For what we had was only a tale

I’m lost within a dream never dreamt
Inside a slumber never slept,
And I caress the intricate design
Of the world I can never find
How vast! Yet still it is dying
Fading into the nadirs’ binding
As I fill the world with crying—always crying!
Oh world! Can I ever bring myself to hold
The warm nothing growing cold?
Oh world! Can I not take away
The love I gave with my will today?
We never win, we never fail
For what we had was only a tale

18, Never Letting Go © Jessica Henderson

She tells him she loves him, when really she doesn’t care,
all along she plays this game unfair.
He thinks that he loves her, when he can really care less,
he’s just in need of someone to caress.

They go on with this relationship or whatever it might be,
as long as they think each others happy.
Sadness in her eyes, his disappointment deep inside,
they both feel the need to die.

She wipes her tears, as he wipes his own,
they do love each other it’s just their evil clone.
They say to one another I love you so,
and throughout this struggle there’s no letting go.

I’m that girl and my boyfriends that boy,
and now we hope life we can enjoy.
We try our hardest not to fight,
and in the end hold each other tight.

Because love is both wicked and good,
I just wish from the start we understood.
That there’s no letting go, no turning back,
no giving up, of this we lacked.

19, On The Confusion of Love © Brandonvincent

Is Love solely a feeling or is Love a way of life?
Am I supposed to Love everyone, or just Love my wife?

Does Love wait till marriage or start when you’re born?
How can Love exist through all the pain, hatred, and scorn?

Can Love be corrupted or is it eternally pure?
For my abandoned heart, is Love the only cure?

Does Love wait up for you each and every night?
Is Love the mediator between a passionate fight?

Can Love survive solo, or must it be returned?
Is Love granted the right to always be concerned?

Does Love ever worry that you’ll crash your car?
Can Love survive distance, no matter how far?

Does Love think about you throughout every day?
If Love has been tainted does it slowly fade away?

Can Love give up after it constantly fails?
Does Love take notice of the minute details?

Will Love ever lose or does Love always win the race?
Does Love forgive, even after you’ve spat in its face?

Is Love one to judge, or does it get to know you first?
Can Love be spontaneous or must it be rehearsed?

Will Love pull an all-nighter to show that it cares?
Does Love spend its time saying heartfelt prayers?

Is Love greatly overused, or is it simply misunderstood?
Since the beginning of time has the foundation of Love withstood?

Does Love really care about the way we look?
Can the vast complexity of Love be described in a book?

Can Love be stopped, does it ever end?
Can Love be shared from friend to friend?

Does Love ever pretend to be someone that it is not?
Does Love come to me or does it have to be caught?

Is Love decietful or does it ever cheat?
Does Love throw in the towel after a tough defeat?

Does true Love exist, or is it a lie?
Can the thought of Love make someone cry?

Is Love cowardly, or can it be bold?
Will Love be my fire when I am the cold?

Will Love ever run off and leave me to die?
Does Love drop its head when things go awry?

Is Love blinded by money, or is that story untrue?
Does Love have a heart that I can pursue?

Does Love ever get scared or does it pretend to be tough?
If I lost my job would my Love be enough?

Will Love grow old with me and make my life complete?
Or will Love abandon me and will my life story repeat?

How can I possibly Love with all that I have been through?
Will Love guide me along as my life begins anew?

Is Love just smart, or is it truly wise?
Do you feel Love when you gaze into my eyes?

Is Love a promise that can never be broken?
Is Love a sacred word that should rarely be spoken?

Does Love bring happiness, peace, and joy?
How can Love possibly exist in the heart of this boy?

Does Love have any value, can it be priced?
Or is Love only found through the son Jesus Christ?

If I were in Love would you call me a fool?
Or is being in Love breaking a rule?

Am I worthy of Love, or am I sadly mistaken?
Can Love empathize with me when I feel forsaken?

Is Love just a word, or does it have a meaning too?
Call me crazy, but I believe I am in Love with you…

20, If I Tell You, Will You? © Shianne

The answer lies true in my heart
So if I tell you, will you tear it apart
Or will you keep it a secret so only you know
Will you cover it up so it won’t show
Will you tell me what I know is true
So I can continue loving you?
Or will you feed me all your lies
Hide the truth behind your eyes
Pretend you never did really care
Lies and fake hate, you declare
Worst shall become the best
When that happens, shall I rest
Or will I live with this misery
And will you ever get to see
Past all these lies to what’s true
So you can see how much I love you?

21, Love’s Confusion © LegendaryPoet

My soul’s solo
sounds so low
pianissimo

violin strings quietly
play violent things
it silently stings

Uncertainty is
certainly hurting me
Feels like third degree

Burns concerning the
yearning of my heart
begin turning

extinguished by
lingering want for her
I cannot distinguish

What love is from lust
What lies are from trust
Maybe this was rushed?

22, Endless Night © Panda S

See the lonely girl,
Trying to pass the day.
Hiding her tears behind her curls,
There isn’t much to say.
Maybe she expects too much,
He doesn’t love her that way.
Her tears roll down that invisible ocean,
It’s wet, the pillow on which she lay.

She takes him too seriously,
Loves him from the bottom of her heart,
She’s trying very hard
That nothing takes them apart.

He doesn’t know how much she tries,
Her impatience drives her insane,
But maybe…he’s busy?
Or is it just his disdain?

She knows he is different, he won’t hurt her,
But everywhere he proves her wrong
She can’t cry before anyone,
So she silently weeps as she writes this song

Will he realize her worth?
Ever treat her right?
Or being loved will remain a dream…
Will there be an end…
…to this endless night?

23, Someday © Loverman

Yes, I should give up
and just let it end,
try not to feel,
maybe pretend.
Not burn anymore,
extinguish that flame.

But maybe someday
you’ll feel the same.

I could let it go,
stay conscious to choose.
Living only once,
there’s nothing to lose.
Of course I could quit,
find something to blame.

But maybe someday
you’ll feel the same.

I could run away,
find some place to hide.
Take different look,
let my thoughts glide.
Yes, I could slow down,
even stop that chase.

But maybe someday
you’re ready to face.

24, Feeling Sad © Stephanie Lopez

Can’t help myself from feeling sad,
the feelings I had from you is something I
never had.

Trying to move on and let all of it go,
realizing time without you goes by slow.

It’s hard not to ask the question why,
I still like you, there is no reason for me to lie.

Knowing that it won’t be easy to move on.
time spent without you feels like you’re al-
ready gone.
Wondering if there could ever be another
chance,
Me being around you I can’t help but
glance.

Hard not knowing where we went wrong.
Trying not to let it get to me, I’m trying to
stand strong.

Knowing something so good got away;
trying to figure out
if there is something I could say.

25, Love saved me but destroyed my happiness © Azmat Naushad

What is happiness beloved?

anything which we love
gives birth to pleasure
Sometimes mistook as bliss
until the results are out

Too late to make amends…

26, The Rest Is Up To You © Sabrina

I don’t know how to explain without writing,
So here I am with all words rhyming.

I usually run from what I feel,
But it has never felt this real.
We started off strong,
But I guess we were wrong.

See why I am afraid of commitment?
I gave it my all, my limit.
I gave my heart for you to hold.
It once was warm but now made cold.

If only you could search my soul.
And for once listen to the story being told.
We don’t talk for days on end.
And when we finally see each other,
You don’t even act like my friend,
Never mind my lover.

If you don’t want to be with me,
Just tell me and let me be.
This is emotional torture.
If you don’t love me, just end it.
Don’t hurt me anymore, say that’s it.

I meant it when I said I love you.
I honestly thought you did too.
What happened to our spark?
The flames grew tall, they lit my path.
But now I feel left alone in the dark.

Every night I lie awake
Thinking of the steps we once did take.
Going over my every move,
Wondering what I did wrong, what I can improve.
Tears stream down my cheek,
For my every move I feel critiqued.

I still love you, don’t get me wrong.
But this feeling makes me weak, no longer strong.
I’m down on my knees begging, pleading.
My heart can’t take much more bleeding.
Let me know how you feel,
Whether or not your love is real.

I just don’t understand.
One day you stand tall and hold my hand,
But the next I’m left with the feeling of blue
Without a heads up or even a clue.
It’s like I am on an emotional roller coaster
With all these ups, downs,
And turn arounds.

I love you is just three little words,
But I can’t even describe the meaning they hold.
You have opened my eyes
And showed me a new life.
Even though I am young, I started questioning my being.
But when I met you, I once again started believing.
You have helped me more than you know.
And one day that story will be told.

I’m not a girl who wants material things.
I don’t want flowers or fancy rings.
I am a giver, not a taker.
Just like I am a listener, not a talker.
There are a few things that I wish for.
Keep on reading if you want to know more.

I want to be the person you confide in.
The person who wipes the tears and creates a grin.
I want to be the one you call
When you’re not sure if you can stand tall.
I want to be there for you no matter what happens.
For you, I’m always just around the bend.
I might not be able to give advice,
But I promise you I will try to be concise.
But most of all I want you to be happy,
Especially with me.

I’m sorry if this made you upset,
But I had to get it off my chest.
Now you know exactly how I feel.
You hold the cards, and it’s time to deal.
Every word I said is true.
Now the rest is up to you.

27, Haunted © Abb12

12:02.
All I can think is you.
You’re not my friend tonight,
And sleep makes two.

12:04.
Our hearts at war.
That shirt you surrendered,
Lifeless on the floor.

Pick it up.
Please don’t weep.
Shut those eyes,
Breathe in deep.

Your worn scent lingers,
Like waves kissing the morning shore.
Let it fool me into thinking
You are here once more.

Now get some rest sweet girl.
That’s what you need most.
No sense in dwelling on that coast.
No sense in loving a ghost.

28, Complicated Love © Mandy

The feeling of your lips pressed up against mine..
your hands on my back make me feel like your finally mine.
My hearts been racing, the rush I feel is so intense.
I couldn’t stop if I wanted to when it comes to kissing you,
I’ve got no sense.
I’ve got to pry myself away,
and even then I’m still wanting you babe.
But the truth is we’re hardly together,
we go from sunlight to the worst kind of weather.
And throughout it all, we’ve still found love.
A love like this comes only in movies.
No one can try to take this away from me.
I’ve got a front seat show.
I’ll wind it up and watch it go.
I see us saying “I do” then looking at our families in rows.
I gotta say your kisses do some crazy things to me.
For now I’ll let our love be..
roaming free.

29, Confused © Jennifer Wooters

Some days you seem so close
like you stand right before me
But then the next day you seem so far
like each other we can’t see,
Each day is like a roller coaster
with my stomach turning upside down
You stand there looking
but yet you don’t utter a sound,
I feel so confused and
my heart is being torn at its seams
And every night that I sleep
you seem to linger in my dreams,
Every time I look at you
I forget all my thoughts
And right then and there
it’s you that my heart has sought,
Every time I hope
it turns into something bad
So for right now I’ll stop thinking
And maybe things won’t end up sad.

30, I Hate You © Anna M.

Stop it. Whatever it is that you do.
Making me reconsider pulling myself away from you.

I want to be gone, cut off from your world,
but with each smile and laugh, my emotions are swirled.

You have nothing to offer me, no intellect, no skill,
nothing in my heart I wish you to instill.

But you call me smart, sarcastic, and pretty,
while I insult you or look down with pity.

You ignore my flaws, while your own disappear,
out of my sight, leaving me feeling so queer.

I feel myself falling, no means of prevention,
wiping away every single intention.

Falling for you, no hope of returning,
filled with emotions that are slightly concerning.

I don’t want to love you, but somehow I must
accept your imperfections, learn to adjust.

After all this, I now understand,
it is you, not I, to be loved with heart and hand.

31, Confused And Distraught © Mewlana Jalaluddin Rumi

Again I am raging,
I am in such a state by your soul that every
bond you bind, I break, by your soul.
I am like heaven, like the moon, like a candle by your glow;
I am all reason, all love, all soul, by your soul.

My joy is of your doing, my hangover of your thorn;
whatever side you turn your face,
I turn mine, by your soul.
I spoke in error;
it is not surprising to speak in error in this state,
for this moment I cannot tell cup from wine, by your soul.
I am that madman in bonds who binds the
‘divs’; I, the madman,am a Solomon with the ‘divs’,
by your soul.

Whatever form other than love raises up its head from my
heart, forthwith I drive it out of the court of my heart,
by your soul.
Come, you who have departed, for the thing that departs
comes back; neither you are that,
by my soul, nor I am that, by your soul.

Disbeliever, do not conceal disbelief in your soul, for I will recite
the secret of your destiny, by your soul.
Out of love of Sham-e Tabrizi,
through wakefulness or nightrising,
like a spinning mote I am distraught, by your soul.

32, The Abyss © Derek S. Weaver

I feel a heaviness on my heart
It’s a mixture of emotions and feelings
The butterflies overtake my chest
It only happens when I think of you
I get scared and nervous
Because it’s too late for me
I’ve fallen deep into the abyss of your love
I keep sinking deeper and deeper
It scares me because I’m reaching out for you
I’m longing for your grip
To pull me up into your arms
Or maybe you’ll dive into the abyss of my love
Maybe we’ll sink together
We can breathe life into each others souls to survive
Because that’s what true love does
I’m longing for the day
To hear those three beautiful words
That will pierce my heart forever
To hear “I love you”
Will weld my soul into yours
You’ll be treated like the angel you are
Miraculously created by God Himself
Reach out for me
Because I’m looking for you
Deep in the abyss of your love

33, How Can You See Through Me? © Robert Vincent

How can you see through me
When you never look my way?
How do you breathe freely
When I’m holding mine all day?
Sitting in confinement
In the center of a crowd,
Looking at the lines
That we keep drawing out.
Slowly they all wither,
And it becomes just you and I.
Slowly you come hither,
Just one last goodbye.
My fingers clench upon me
So they don’t rush to find your hands.
I stay where I have been
Because my knees won’t let me stand.
If I never say the words,
This moment may not end.
When you turn to walk away,
The pain is just too much.
The things that I would say
Just to feel your touch.

34, In The Orchard © Muriel Stuart

“I thought you loved me.” “No, it was only fun.”
“When we stood there, closer than all?” “Well, the harvest moon
“Was shining and queer in your hair, and it turned my head.”
“That made you?” “Yes.” “Just the moon and the light it made
“Under the tree?” “Well, your mouth, too.” “Yes, my mouth?”
“And the quiet there that sang like the drum in the booth.
“You shouldn’t have danced like that.” “Like what?” “So close,
“With your head turned up, and the flower in your hair, a rose
“That smelt all warm.” “I loved you. I thought you knew
“I wouldn’t have danced like that with any but you.”
“I didn’t know. I thought you knew it was fun.”
“I thought it was love you meant.” “Well, it’s done.” “Yes, it’s done.
“I’ve seen boys stone a blackbird, and watched them drown
“A kitten … it clawed at the reeds, and they pushed it down
“Into the pool while it screamed. Is that fun, too?”
“Well, boys are like that … Your brothers…” “Yes, I know.
“But you, so lovely and strong! Not you! Not you!”
“They don’t understand it’s cruel. It’s only a game.”
“And are girls fun, too?” “No, still in a way it’s the same.
“It’s queer and lovely to have a girl…” “Go on.”
“It makes you mad for a bit to feel she’s your own,
“And you laugh and kiss her, and maybe you give her a ring,
“But it’s only in fun.” “But I gave you everything.”
“Well, you shouldn’t have done it. You know what a fellow thinks
“When a girl does that.” “Yes, he talks of her over his drinks
“And calls her a—” “Stop that now. I thought you knew.”
“But it wasn’t with anyone else. It was only you.”
“How did I know? I thought you wanted it too.
“I thought you were like the rest. Well, what’s to be done?”
“To be done?” “Is it all right?” “Yes.” “Sure?” “Yes, but why?”
“I don’t know. I thought you were going to cry.
“You said you had something to tell me.” “Yes, I know.
“It wasn’t anything really … I think I’ll go.”
“Yes, it’s late. There’s thunder about, a drop of rain
“Fell on my hand in the dark. I’ll see you again
“At the dance next week. You’re sure that everything’s right?”
“Yes.” “Well, I’ll be going.” “Kiss me…” “Good night.” …
“Good night.”

35, Man Right Here © Keshia Jones

Last Night there was a man right here,
This morning he has a name.

Last Night there was a man right here,
This morning it’s not the same.

The man right here last night was strange,
This morning he’s not the same.

Last Night I kind of liked the man right here,
This morning that too has changed.

This morning he has a name for me to say
His face will take the strange away.

This morning he has a Meaning
Much more than he used to mean.

This morning he is etched in my brain,
his scent, his touch, his face

Last Night there was a man right there
This morning I kissed his face.

Last night I fell in Love with the man right there
This morning we lay face to face

You hate yourself for loving her.

You hate yourself for being unable to chase her from your thoughts,
your dreams,
the insides of your eyelids,
and your
every
waking
moment,

because she is everywhere you look.

She is the rain,
calm and peaceful and seemingly gentle,
but she sends shivers down your spine when she touches you.
Her long fingers, cold, friendly, unknowing.

She tells you that she isn’t perfect,
because of course she isn’t.

The word perfect barely begins to sum up her eyes.
The word perfect barely begins to describe all of her faulted beauty.

She is flawless and yet so flawed.
She is beauty and terror,
and she is the desperate ache in your throat when she looks at you.

You hate yourself for wanting her.
You hate yourself for wanting her so much
that the lines on your wrists bleed her name.

But the pain is nothing compared to what you feel when you look at her.
It is nothing compared to the way you bite your tongue when she looks at you.

You hate yourself for hiding from her.
You hate yourself for avoiding eye contact,

but you know that if she looks you in the eye
she will see right through you,

and you almost want her to.

37, Nonexistent Love © Kristina

I know what you want me to say,
I know that you want me to stay.
Here with you on the beach,
You and I have battled this leech.
Sucking the life out of us,
Draining out all our lust.
A tear falls down my face,
We will die but there is no haste.
I hurt your hand with my nails,
Your hurt my face with your lips, if this fails.
God knows that we’re praying for hope,
Maybe just this once he’ll throw us a rope.
Save us even from our utter demise,
Just then a plan I devise.
Just stay with me and everything will be alright,
Please don’t go and kill yourself in a meaningless fight.

38, In Love With You © Monica

I want to tell you how I feel about you,
but I am afraid to
for you might not feel the same way
I want to kiss you,
but I am afraid to
for you might pull away
I want to tell you to hold me,
but I am afraid to
for you might look away
I want to tell you I want to be more than friends,
but I’m afraid to
for you might walk out of my life forever

39, Season Of Love © Breana A. Carter

I wish you always love me the way you do in the winter,
When your heart is desperate for the warmth of my love
And you need my affection to melt the ice coursing through your veins.
When you need my smile to clear your foggy thoughts
And my kisses to thaw the pain.

But by spring you’ve pushed me away
Because you’ve sprouted feelings for another.
Now your heart’s rooted in a place where the love can bloom
Though you let mine melt with the snow.
But winter is long gone and spring has brought a reassuring breeze.
You can see the sun in the sky and the vegetation in the trees.
Now you’ve found love and I’m lost in the love we had.

And I’m asking the winds to bring it back.
By summertime, our paths don’t seem to cross.
Our feelings have perspired in the sweltering heat,
And our love is smothered under blasting ACs.
Yet I still need to know that you’re there,
Because my heart can’t bear another season without you.

Along comes autumn,
And I’ve fallen in love with you all over again.

40, Secret Lover © Nicki C.

Let’s just face it.
You know it’s true.
We are secret lovers,
Me and you.

When we were together that day,
I wanted to go for that kiss,
But I wasn’t sure
If you’d purposely make it a miss.

When I’m with you,
I feel a rush
That I haven’t felt before.
Yup, I think you’re my crush.

Why did you keep my valentine?
Why do you hold me that way?
It makes me think you feel the same.
“I like you” is all you have to say.

But this is wrong.
We have our own lovers.
So why do I want you?
I just want to hide under the covers.

Let’s just face it.
You know it’s true.
We ARE secret lovers,
Me and you.

41, Just A Dream © Jesse Fores

a shadow flies by and it catches your curiosity
whirls past you with escalating ferocity
in a dark room it illuminates the space
but you can’t catch it for it runs at a faster pace
green eyes and red hair
a beauty in which no one can compare
her run becomes a walk as she invites you to follow her
but even so she is still just a blur
you notice you are crying from her mere sight
so you follow her into the night
deeper through the hallway you go
it’s completely dark, no light will show
time seems to elude you
but you are fixed on seeing her for a second or a few
this is a once in a life time chance
or so you think
her voice is a song her walk is a dance
her skin is a pale white, her cheeks a rosy pink
you finally find a light
it’s the star across the sky of the night
you look around an catch her gaze
suddenly your stomach feels like a maze
a labyrinth, twisting and turning with no end
time doesn’t last forever, but a minutes is all you ask to lend
she walks your direction
you look down, you’re standing on water but no reflection
this blows your state of mind
you look around but hers in the only reflection you can find
your face is brushed by her hand
you feel like you are in never-land
you feel like you can fly
soar across the marvelous sky
but you stay on the ground
next to the girl that makes your heart pound
she draws nearer
her eyes are a little more clearer
you can feel it coming, a kiss
but then something comes amiss
you wake up and you ask yourself “was it just a dream?”

42, Wondering Days © Brittany

I wonder what the days will bring,
Never knowing when the phone will ring.
I wait for you to take my heart,
But it seems you have had it from the start.
I’ve tried to let others in,
But I cannot trust them until this comes to an end.
We have tried so many times,
But once in a while, things tire.
I really want to be with you,
But you want to be with others too.
No matter what happens in the end,
I will fall for you all over again.

43, Go © Rueth

Why do I stay when I want to go?
Is it because I have hope?
Or maybe it is because I don’t want to be alone.

I stay and all I do is complain.
Complain that I might be going insane.
Insane of the thought that it might be my fault.

But who is to blame?
Is it me or is it him?
Neither one of us will go.

Although we know we must go,
All we do is ignore the pain
Of all the words we exchange.

I know I must go, but I don’t know.
If I go, I will be alone.
But why do I stay?
Only to hear him say,
“You’re to blame for all my unhappiness and pain.”

I know I’m not to blame for the choices he has made.
So I stay, hoping he will grow,
Grow in love and be consoled knowing I will never go.

44, Have I Made The Right Decision? © Sharon Vernon

Why do I feel in doubt..? Have I made the right decision?
You know how to make me happy, and my favorite position
You no when I am nervous, angry or sad
You alone are like the family I never had

To let you go now would break my heart
So why do I feel as though we will be better of apart?
Do I see you as a friend.. Or my true love to be
I can’t quiet believe this is reality

I waited two years.. It seemed so long
And then suddenly it was on your arm where I felt I belonged
If you care and want me so
Then promise you will never let me go

45, Brown Eyes © KarisJuliana

I’ve always used words to describe him
In my mind.
I guess that’s why I’ve found the words for him
In his eyes.

Brown is the color of
Autumn leaves,
When the color is fading,
The trees are bare,
And it marks the season’s greetings.

Brown is the color of
Concrete once the rain hits.
It falls to the pavement and leaves a sparkle
When it passes and absorbs in.

Brown is the color of
Many people and multiple things,
And it can show examples of so much beauty.

Brown is the color of
His eyes,
The color of fading,
And the color of change,
Sometimes the good and sometimes the pain.

46, Who Am I? © Kori Stricker

I’ll creep up on you when you least expect it….

I don’t ask, let you know I’m coming,
or care who you wish to be involved….

The people I pick for you are most of the time wrong;
wrong people, wrong timing….

I don’t care if you get hurt
and I don’t care if you hurt others for me….

I’ll get in your head
no matter how hard you try not to let me….

You fight me
and I’ll just fight you harder….

I like to aim for the “good people”,
because they trust in me more….

But I don’t have any regrets when I hurt you;
I just sit around waiting to do it again….

You think you’re smart and guarded?
I’ll defeat you and make you think I’m a sheep….

And when you open up,
I’ll become the wolf and cut into you deep….

I am LOVE and no one will defeat me….
For I will be around forever, as long as you believe in me…

47, Jealous Love © Justin Eugene Shelton

Hands starting to sweat.
Next thing you know, your palms are wet.
It gets harder to swallow and your mouth is so dry.
You are mad and feel like you could cry.
Doesn’t she realize how this makes you feel?
While you stare at him with a look that could kill,
She smiles and looks to him like he could do no wrong.
I don’t think he is so funny.
She still loves you and calls you honey.
That’s what you tell yourself as your blood starts to boil.
It feels like your heart is beginning to spoil.
Is it getting hotter in here?
That’s what you have to ask someone as you take another sip of beer.
She must know how bad it makes you hurt,
Sitting here watching her flirt.
Maybe it is just you, maybe it not that bad.
Why is she doing that? your friend just has to add,
It is as bad as you thought.
This is a lesson no one should be taught,
So you call her over and say come sit with me.
Tell her, “I love you, sweet pea.”
Give her a kiss and shoot him a smile
And thank God that only lasted for a little while.

48, For Ruth © Daniel H. Lee

You will never see the ways
that I love you so.

Deeply, madly, unrequitedly.

You’re my inspiration,
you’re the butterflies in my stomach,
you’re my skipped heartbeat.

You are everything in-between and more.
You’re my day’s beginning and my night’s end,
you’re my every moment of yearning.

The inner hell this puts me through,
to say the ways I want to be with you.
You mean everything to me.

49, Love And The Light That Shimmers © Steven Banks

From the start, there are always ups and downs.
Sadly, smiles are replaced with frowns.
Sometimes life separates two souls that mate
To teach life’s lessons that just couldn’t wait.
These lessons not learned from what we now know,
But with days that pass we learn and grow.
The passage of time brings new mysteries
With one constant not sure either of us sees.
Once our heart has found the one,
Neither time nor space can keep it undone.
Remember our mysteries transform to adventures
And then to journeys.
We build a life together, even if life has pulled us apart.

The truth is…

It’s one thing to love with your mind,
But the solitude is eternal
When your heart loves a soul that doesn’t share its space.
Everything else is on hold because nothing can take its place.
The sun may not always shine on us,
But I’ll always have hope, even if it’s just a glimmer,
Because you, my love, will always shimmer.

50, Because You Don’t Know Me © Alex

You’ll never know what this could be
Because you didn’t get a chance to know me.

You’re the one I know is right
And the one I long to kiss goodnight.

I know someday you’ll drift away,
But if I tell you now, will you stay?

Maybe you’ll be happy this day came
Because you might feel the same.

But if I never get a chance to say it,
Just know that I meant it.

When you read this you’ll wonder, “Who did she write it to?”
I want you to know I wrote it just for you.
