Sometimes, love can show up in the most unexpected of places and so does friendship.
When you least expect it, it might grow into something more. You might be concerned that chasing romance will ruin your friendship because you don’t know whether she or he realizes the same method you do. But, aside from that, you don’t want to miss out on a fantastic opportunity and it’s usually an uneasy scenario, and you have to be extra cautious.

Platonic love plays an important role in any close friendship. However, platonic love does not always remain because sometimes it develops into passionate love. It can be both lovely and terribly challenging to cross the boundary between friendship and love although only a few people are fortunate enough to have such a relationship. t is extremely rare and only occurs between persons who have a soul link. Most love narratives that began as friendships, on the other hand, turn into beautiful and long-lasting romances.

Every relationship starts with friendship so you don’t need to worry if you’re in such a relationship. Take some time to explore your relationship if you’re feeling puzzled. Think about actual experiences of moments when you’ve felt a sense of love. And do you want to try to take a step further in your relationship? There are many effective ways you can find out without endangering your friendship.

Maybe you don’t know that it’s far easier to transform a friendship into love than it is to transform love into friendship. We’ve compiled 55 love poems about Friendship Turning Into Love – The Best Poems for Lovers Who Are Also Friends. Some poems emphasize the romanticism and enjoyment of this connection, while others focus on the problems, loneliness, pain, and suffering. Hope you have beautiful moments on Poemfull.Com! I dreamt we walked together along the shore. We made satisfying small talk and laughed. This morning I found sand in my shoe and a seashell in my pocket. Was I only dreaming?

Friendship & Love: 55 Poems About Friendship Turning Into Love

1, Friends or Lovers © Nancy Ness

Throughout our lives we’re ever dreaming of
The day we’ll find that perfect sweet caress.
How shall we know when friendship’s really love?

A quest for raptured hearts the conduit of
Life’s bask in yearning throngs of WistfullNess.
Forever seems our lifelong dreams are of

The hope we may imbue our hearts thereof
With exultation, but we shan’t unless
We recognize when friendship’s turned to love.

Whence all emotions fit like hand in glove
It may just be—’Tis serendipitous.
Those things in life we’re ever dreaming of

As rhapsody’s sung on the wing of dove
And, one to each, our promise we profess
How do we know this friendship’s really love?

Whence we have placed our faith in Hands above
Each ray of sun bestows SagaciousNess
No longer things we’re only dreaming of
We’ll surely know when friendship’s one with love.

2, When Best Friends Love © Ron Carnell

You entered my life like a gentle sigh,
like a quiet breeze blowing softly through the leaves.
You were a stranger first, one who laughed freely and easily,
who spoke of minor intimacies and common grounds,
who made me feel strangely liked and valued.
You became my friend, no longer a stranger,
trusting me with secrets hidden,
confiding what you liked and hated.
We talked and laughed and, as time passed by,
I grew more and more dependent upon your smile.

From strangers to friends was just a baby step,
a step a thousand others take every day.
Without your trust and trusting ways,
without your smiles and encouraging gaze,
I would never have taken the step beyond.
But the gentle breeze blowing through the leaves
is relentless and never ending.
We became closer friends, and closer still,
until much of my life was centered around the times
we spent together.

We traveled far along the path of friendship,
avoiding the bumps somehow, never stumbling,
always in step with one another.
You were my guide, my eyes and ears,
the unfailing light that lit the road before us.
Hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder,
you brought me along our course,
to a destination I had never seen before.
You became my best friend along that journey,
the anchor in my life where none had ever been.

You did a good job of guiding our steps,
a job no other could ever do,
and it wasn’t your fault, really, when I stumbled.
Somewhere along our path,
perhaps where the heights were making me dizzy with joy,
I simply lost my balance and fell.
By the grace of God, I fell not to either side, nor to the rear,
but fell instead forward, along the path we’d tread.
My plunge forward was unguided, and my steps were steps you never intended.
I fell in love with you.

From strangers, to friends, to close friends, to best friends.
And beyond.
I’ve never been sorry for any step we’ve taken together,
no, not even for the fall I took alone.
I never knew, before knowing you, how empty my life had been.
I thought I was happy. I thought I was successful.
I thought I had known love and all that love can bring.
But the gentle breeze, blowing softly through the leaves,
carries the smell of wild flowers and still wilder beasts,
and what you brought into my life can never be assessed.

We are so very different, you and I. And yet so much the same.
And our differences merge with our similarities,
giving rise to something special and unique.
We talk.
Of all the things I value about this thing that is us,
and there are so many I often lose count,
I value most the way we talk about any thing any time any where.
And each time I listen to you, each time I ponder what you’ve said,
I learn something new. About you. About me. About the world.
I’ve learned to trust in your instincts.

I love the vitality and zest that is so much a part of you.
I never would have believed the breeze, blowing softly through the leaves,
could be so filled with life.
I treasure that spark of spirit in you,
that flashing flare of fire that animates all that you do.
It’s easy to see how much you love life,
even when life is sometimes less than lovable,
and that love is always mirrored in your eyes and smile.
You are never more beautiful than when that spark ignites
and your vitality blazes in your happy face.

And, yes, I love your beauty, shallow as that may sound.
I love the way your eyes change from blue to blue-green,
the way the morning sun catches afire in your hair,
the way your nostrils move when you breathe deep breaths,
the way your tongue slips out of its safe harbor when you think deep thoughts.
I love the curve of your cheek,
that soft milky canvas for the faint scar you won’t talk about.
I love your tiny eyelashes, the small gaps in your teeth,
the way your earlobes hang lower than mine.
Your beauty truly takes my breath away.

I love the way you trust in me, never quite whole hearted,
but always just enough.
That trust started as a small seed, I think,
a tentative whisper of unearned confidence,
often shrouded by a cloak of hesitation and unsurety.
I could always tell when you faltered,
when the steps we took were uncertain and questioned.
And yet still you trusted me,
with your secrets, with your feelings, with yourself.
You’ll never know how much that trust has meant to me.

I love the way you understand me too well.
It’s uncanny sometimes how well you know my thoughts, my feelings, my moods,
frightening at times how closely our lives have become interlinked.
You know so much of me, secrets I’ve never told,
thoughts I’ve never shared, parts of me I’ve never seen myself.
You’ve discovered a window into my being,
a window I didn’t know was there,
a window no one else has ever found.
It’s almost as if our two souls have merged into one,
almost as if the hand of God has repaired that which once was broken.

I love the way we have fun doing the strangest things,
or the way we can enjoy each other doing nothing at all.
We shop and walk, eat and talk,
playing games apart and united.
We study and drill, work and play,
listening to music and singing the words together.
We have fun with each other,
frolicking in our shared pleasures,
you enjoying the thrill of life,
me just enjoying you.

I’m not blinded by my love, though, and know you are not perfect.
You are impatient and easy to anger,
too intolerant when you should tolerate,
too forgiving when you shouldn’t forgive.
You allow the stresses of life to mold your day,
allow the commitments of life to shape your way.
I know your imperfections as well as your perfections,
know your faults as well as your assets.
And I find I love you not in spite of those,
but as much because of them as anything else.

Your life has touched mine.
My friendship with you, my love for you,
all that you are and aren’t,
have changed my life in ways you cannot fathom,
in ways I could never describe in depth.
The gentle breeze, blowing softly through the leaves,
has worked her wondrous magic,
transforming the one she touched.
I’m not the same man I was a year ago.
I will never be that man again.

The communication we’ve shared has taught me to value our honest openness,
and I know I’ll never be satisfied again with less.
Your trust in me has taught me to trust in you,
knowing you will never intentionally cause me pain.
Your spark of vitality has transformed the way I see life,
giving me reason again to live and cause to celebrate.
Your beauty, both inner and outer, has renewed the wonder
with which I see the world, and has restored my sense of awe.
Even the fun we share, that senseless sense of joy,
has changed the way I live and think.

As much as you’ve altered my present, though,
the effect you’ve had on my future is just as great.
I once thought I knew what love meant to me,
once thought I had experienced all that life had to offer.
I lived and I loved, and I hurt and I grew,
and I believed I could never love again,
could never willingly face the pain of caring.
Love was a myth, I thought, and true love, lasting love,
was just a lie told by poets.
But I was wrong.

In learning to love you, I discovered I’ve never loved before.
Not truly. Not entirely. Not eternally.
I’ve spent much of my life in love with love,
searching for the fulfillment of a concept,
caring more for caring than caring for another person.
I confused lust with love, intimacy with affection.
And when those feelings waned, when the relationships died,
I wondered why I felt so empty. So hurt.
You changed that, as you’ve changed so much else.
You taught me how to love.

I wish you knew the me of before,
as you know so well the me of today,
so you could see the difference knowing you has made.
You’ve changed my life in so many ways,
in ways small and ways important,
in ways you’ll never know nor understand.
The impact you’ve had on me,
on the way I feel and think and act,
will endure forever. Until the end of time.
Like a quiet breeze blowing softly through the leaves.

3, Over Time © Hailee Boquet

It took me a while to see you
I never knew how you felt
I was blinded
But now I see

I hold everything in
So you never knew how I felt
You saw me
When no one else did

Now that we both know
And we both see
I am too late
You are better off

She is better for you
And I am so happy for you
Don’t worry about me
I will be fine

And you do know
That no matter what
I will always be here
And will always care

I will always love you
You are the best friend
That anyone can have
And I have you

4, Three Wishes © Christelle S.

If I had three wishes,
I would wish to trade lives,
With a person so lucky,
A woman,
Your wife.

Just to have one day of waking up beside you,
Looking into those beautiful eyes,
Tasting your morning lips.
To make slow love to you
‘Til we collapse into each other’s arms.
I want to watch you shower and
Help with the hard to reach areas (wink).
I will make your breakfast and
Send you to work with a kiss and a smile.
I would love nothing more than to be that person
You come home to after work,
To greet with a hug.
We can talk over dinner…
Enjoy dessert much much later (smile).
I want nothing more than to appreciate
The beautiful, kind, caring, gentle, honest,
loyal and loving man you are.

I would love the chance
To show you what you deserve and
Enjoy what she has.
If I had three wishes…
I would give away two, because
The only thing I want in this world,
Is one chance with you!

5, I Finally Love You © BadKismet

Things were so quiet—
What could I do but think?
Trapped in the screaming hush of white-washed halls…
My god, what could I do,
But think of us, ( If we ever were)
And I push away, force this hurt to silence
Pretend I’m OK..
It seems like we are at an impasse, you and I,
And you are pulling me back,
And I am fighting like hell,
Resisting at all cost, this game…
That neither of us can win
I Love You.
Please, please, please go away,
What can I do if I love you—
But let you go?

6, I Love You © Yazmine

I never really knew you,
You were just another friend.
But when I got to know you,
I let my heart unbend.
I couldn’t help past memories,
that would only make me cry.
I had to forget my first love,
and give love another try.
So I’ve fallen in love with you,
and I’ll never let you go.
I love you more than anyone,
I just had to let you know.
And if you ever wonder why,
I don’t know what I’d say.
But I’ll never stop loving you,
each and every day.
My feelings for you will never change,
just know my feelings are true.
Just remember one thing,
I Love You!!!

7, Friend? © Michael Hopkins

What was, can be no more.
What could have been is now impossible.
The things I have waited for, for what seems like an eternity,
These things are now but a faded dream in the night.

Emotions that were strong and confusing, recently depleted,
Are now brought to the light again.
Feelings that were thought hidden
Are now in my face screaming to me—why?

All that my world was, has now come to a foreseen, yet unexpected end.
The things that I held dear and secretive to me
Have now become an uncovered shadow,
Forever I will hold dear to me, your memory and constant voice in my head

All you are and all you have given me—
I will hold close to my heart and guard these memories
With my life, for that’s all I have of you now.

Because you said,
Forever, my friend.

8, One Day You’ll See © LoveBugg

The first time I saw you,
I knew you were the one.
There was no question in my mind,
after having that much fun.

There’s just something about you,
that I’ve never found before.
And now that we’re good friends,
I find myself wanting more.

I never thought it possible,
to care for one so much.
But everyday that passes,
I long to feel your touch.

To look into your eyes,
would make my day complete,
cause every time you look at me,
my heart just skips a beat.

Everything I’d wished for,
every dream I’d hope come true,
I never thought would happen,
until the day that I met you.

I know that your not ready,
for the kind of commitment that I am,
but for you I’d wait forever,
there’s nothing I can’t stand.

Although it hurts to know,
that you don’t feel the same as me,
hopefully one day you’ll realize,
one day you’ll wake up and see.

9, I Miss © Erin Elizabeth

I miss the Nothingness of our friendship,

Before things got complicated with the word “love.”

I miss when nothing was expected and all was given.

But now, high hopes are crushed my low realities.

10, From Friends To Lovers © Joe Vieira

Sometimes I feel sad and sometimes I feel blue
but whenever I see you, I’m as happy as can be
for you bring a smile upon my face
and a feeling of joy within my heart
you’re like my sunshine in the morning
and my stars that glow at night
you’re like the waves in the ocean
the cool breeze in the wind
like the call of the birds in the morning dew
like the sounds of beauty in the night
you see all of these things are of beauty and love
that’s how I feel whenever you are near
for it was the passion and desire from both of us
that opened up the world for our eyes to see
for our love of each other will grow and grow
and our needs and desires will be more everyday
for a friend you once were and will always be
has turned into love as it should have been
so I want you to know as a friend and lover
that in my heart and arms you’ll always stay
for our love for each other will never fade.

11, The How And Why © Gitte

How has this sinful journey become my flight…
Why am I suddenly, morally un-right
My best friend’s husband, now my delight
How does something so wrong, feel so right

We started out just “party buds”, you see
Please don’t pass judgement on me
For nearly 15 years I’ve known this man
Why is it now he takes my hand

Sure, their marriage was rocky
that was true
Why was I to seal their doom
I was vulnerable and weak when he fueled my desires…

12, My Friend, My Love..!!! © David Yearwood

You were just another true friend,
Time went on, our friendship got closer.
My feelings caught fire. You took me all in,
Now, we’re truly wrapped together. yes we are.

You made me forget, my true past love,
I gave this love, another try with you.
Now, I’ve fallen, madly in love,
feelings I feel, moments are real. Here to stay!

My love, my friend, it started right here,
True friends we were, love creeping right in.
I love you now, you have no choice,
My feelings for you, can’t be undone.

Just know my feelings are pure and true,
Just remember one thing, I will always love you

13, The Knowing Sea © Mikol Khol

The tide comes in, and moves back out
Like your chest rising and falling
To the melodic rhythm of your life

In the mist of the sea’s dew
I see the future of our understanding love
Two young friends discovering the truth

Sand and shells shift underneath
Realizing the changes that have taken place
I know now… where my heart belongs

14, Me and You © Tina Potts

When I first talked to you
I felt like I had known you forever,
telling you my problems
and what I didn’t want ever.

You listened to me
I bet you thought I’d never end,
who would have thought
we would be the best of friends.

Over a period of time,
I got to know the real you.
A guy so charming and gentle,
with a heart so true.

You’ve survived your life
with me by your side.
I told you I’d never leave
because of the feelings I have inside.

There was a time
I wanted to explore,
what would have happened
if I would only open the door.

I know you
like no one I have ever known,
and sometimes I wonder
what do I do when we’re alone?

So I have decided
time answers all.
If it is meant to be
time will remove the wall.

Standing between us,
holding us back,
allowing us to feel
It’s the relationship that we lack.

I love the way we are together,
you can always make me smile.
Will it ever really be forever?
I guess I will have to wait awhile.

Time will reveal, what lies ahead
but always remember
what I have said.
Meeting you has changed my life
and I really love you so,
the feelings I feel for you
I am never letting go.
Remember me always
and I will too.

I will always think of
me and you.

15, I’ve Been Caught © Teresa Fiehn

I’ve been caught swimming in his eyes again.
Holding my heart so it doesn’t break in his presence.
I’ve been known to have to steady my breathing at his smile,
as my own returns with red cheeks.
As the subject of my never ending sentences, he calls upon pauses that
should not be there.
As my friend, he shares.
His heart cannot mention my name.
While my heart can only scream his.
I’ve been seen caressing his skin with my gaze.
Memorizing his shape.
I’ve dreamt of how his lips round his words.
As I replace friendship with love.
My heart hangs heavy when I hear his voice.
My pulse races with his scent.
As he walks past, her on his arm.
Unlike any of the others, he kills me and keeps me alive.

16, I Will Love You Anyways © Melissa Ann Berman

You walked into my Life, when my world was dark and cold,
you held out your arms, and my heart and soul you did hold.
You promised you would never leave, that you would always be there,
I never knew that I meant so much, that my heart was worth enough to care.

You showed me so many things, I started to dream of you every night,
you melted the coldness in my heart, with the warmth of your light.
I ended up falling for you, how could I not—
you’re an Angel in disguise, and every touch from you makes my soul hot.

But then you told me it’s not the same. for you only think of me as a friend,
I cannot understand this, the wrong messages you did send.
I never knew you bought your friend flowers, and touched them like a lover,
I never knew you held your friends’ hand and caressed them under the covers.

I am so far, I cannot turn back now, you are My Best friend,
so what do I do now. I don’t know much, except here I am again
in Love with another man who only wants to be my friend.

I’m not sure if this is wrong, then again I don’t know what’s right,
I will Love You Anyways, even if its a lonely fight.

17, Words Are Not Enough © Ron Carnell

The words “I miss you” can not display
The depths of how I care.

The words “I want you” do not betray
The extent of what I dare.

The words “I need you” can not convey
The extent of my prayer.

The words “I love you” do not portray
The heights of my err.

18, The Right Time © Bianca Santamaria

Every time I look you, I can’t help and wonder,
Why I couldn’t have known you when I was a bit younger.

I guess good things come with time
I never thought you would ever be mine.

The first day our eyes met,
We both knew it was not the right time just yet.

I did not get to see you for a while,
But you had me with just one smile.

Who would have ever guessed, I was ever going feel this way,
It was just the other day I could not figure out if I wanted to stay.

Every time you hold me tight,
I know everything is going to be alright.

No matter how far apart we might be,
I know your thoughts include me.

You complete me in every way,
And I pray to God you never go away.

19, Many Unsaid Things © Jacquilyn Flory

There were so many things I did not say
When I looked into your eyes
The things I think about each day
Would take you by surprise

The wonders of what we could share
Still powder in my mind
I wondered if I could tell you how much I cared
And I guess I ran out of time

Now your face is not stopping me
From telling you how I feel
Maybe this is the way it should be
So I’ll try and keep it real

We have known each other for quite some time
And we’re recently good friends

We were a couple for awhile
But we know that never really lasts
I always felt as if my heart was on trial
And now it’s a thing of the past

I want that love we once shared again
If it was ever there
I know that I had loved you
But did you really care?

Sometimes I wish you would talk to me
About the things you feel
Then maybe someday I’ll understand
How you’ve learned to deal

I’ve often wondered what it would be like
To feel your warm embrace
To kiss your soft sweet lips
Or have your touch upon my face

But now I am gone and I’ll never know
How wonderful it would be
To have the sweetest love
That you would share with me

So many things I think about
You probably never knew
A lot of many unsaid things
That I have never told you.

20, As Days Flew By © Peng

The very first time I saw you,
Was special how we met.
You took me by complete surprise.
I knew my heart was set.

As days flew by, we talked again,
But you never seemed to care.
I tried my best to help you out,
By a favor here, or a favor there.

Although I made a fast approach,
Our friendship grew and grew.
I realized how deep I cared,
But the feeling I felt was new.

In time I became attached to you.
From a hug, I wouldn’t let go.
I soon saw how close we were,
And the feeling was good to know.

For you, I wrote sweet letters and songs.
You were on my mind all day.
The thought of sleeping was nowhere near,
Unless I knew you were okay.

It hit me then, what I was in—
A unique and precious love.
For the person I said was only mine,
Was an angel sent from above.

The minutes without you turned into days,
And the seconds with you flew fast.
I could only wish to see you more,
And make each moment last.

The times I spent with you,
Were what made my heart complete.
I knew one thing for sure,
Without you, my future was obsolete.

And now, we love just the same,
As it doubles day by day.
I stare deep into your precious eyes,
Yet I’m still speechless to what I should say.

With you, I’m in a whole new world.
You bring out the best in me.
It’s hard to picture you not there,
When you taught me who to be.

Yes, the road ahead gets hard,
When things may only seem rough.
But because you and I try so much,
We’ll stay strong and get by tough.

Though problems may lie ahead someday,
And either of us could be right;
I promise to always be by your side,
And I promise my heart, so hold it tight.

And so, each night, beside my bed,
When there’s only bright stars to see;
I pray that we may never give up,
And will always remain you and me.

21, I Need You As My Friend © Nina

I’ve been hurt so very deep
By the one who once made my life complete

He left his scars they do not show
Imprinted them within my soul

So forgive me friend if I get scared
but my emotions are temporarily under repair

I work on this heartbreak everyday
Slowly its damage is drifting away

IF you’ve ever been here
I know you’ll understand

That what I need right now
is for you to stay my friend

22, Beautiful © Magic

He is beautiful, so very beautiful
Just like a winter’s shining landscape,
As delicate as the petals of a daisy,
And as freely as the eagle soaring against the blue

His eyes are as mysterious as the calm sea
Everything about him is so very precious,
More precious than all the gems in the world
His soul is the essence of the sky and earth,
His feelings are a volcano that is yet to explode
His smile is the smile of lost innocence.

Pain vibrates deep inside of his gentle heart.
A lock shuts in the disturbed thoughts of his mind,
A mind with as many roads as the world has.
I look at him and I see a pure truth,
Like looking at a clear night sky,
Millions of stars twinkle within him.

He is beauty as I defined it,
He is perfect, his imperfections make him so.
He is my best friend, and I love him,
I love him although, not because.

And I would give up all the things which I think are pretty
If only I can hold his beauty within me,
For he is everything in this world,
And I have found a world in him.

23, Between Us © May Queen

There is the melody
I can’t play for you,
There is the song
I can’t sing for you.

Always,
I want to be with you,
Touch, feel your heart.

Between us
There is the line
I can’t cross.

24, You Are My Friend!!! © David Yearwood

We have something, that holds us tight,
Something we like and treasure together.
Something called, being a friend,
we have blended, nice and tight.

We can’t be undone, that’s the way it is,
We’re going through this life, side-by-side.
Nothing, or, no one, can come between us,
this is the way it will be, we agree.

I really want for you to know,
even though, we are so far apart,
I’ll never stop being your friend.
This is the way it will be, I know.

And, you’re my one and only true friend,
That’s here to stand, by my side.
With lots of love, you give to me,
remember this, at every time, you are my friend!

25, One Last Time © Ryan Autumn

If I ever needed it
or if it was ever wanted,
I would get it from you
and I could ask this of you…
forever and ever, because I know it’s always there—
and I know you’re always there.

So if I cry and ask you to never leave…
just say “ok” please.
And I’m thinking that I never had to tell you that—
because you know,
don’t you?
You’ve known every time.
So someday we’ll dance
and I know the whole world will want to cut in,
but you won’t let them…
and I can’t let them—
because I think I might need to hold on to you forever…
one last time.

26, I Love © Melissa Neiding

I love to see you smile
And I love knowing that I caused that smile
I love to see you happy
And I love knowing that I caused that happiness

I love to look into your beautiful eyes
And I love the way I fall into them
I love it when you hold my hand
And I love having the courage to grab and hold yours

I love to tease and torment you
And I love it when you tease and torment me
I love it when you touch me
And I love to touch you

I love rediscovering how beautiful you are each time I see you
And I love realizing how attractive you make me feel
I love wanting so badly to kiss you
And I love the way you want to take things slow

I love the fact that you still want to be my friend
And I love that I want to be yours
I love so many things about you
But the most important thing is:
I Love you!

27, Thoughts Of Love © Linda Christensen

The sunset has faded once more,
Gone are its radiant hues
That warmed the end of my day.
The darkness of night envelopes me.
The air is still, the quietness of evening deafening.

I sit and ponder the past and question the future.
Memories, thoughts, flooding my mind.
Just like a pond when a stone is cast upon it,
So are the rippling effects borne by my heart and soul.

The innocence of a child’s daydreams
Now are transformed into a woman’s world of reality.
For so long I guarded my thoughts and feelings
Keeping them locked behind closed doors,
Allowing no one in.
You entered my world and became part of it.
I learned to trust someone as would a child,
And in doing so gave you the key.
A key that unlocked privacy secured for so long.
Fantasies became reality, untapped passions unbridled.
A tenderness and gentleness I’d never known
Warmed and comforted me.
Finally I knew what it meant to be a woman.

With the dawn of each new day I am reminded
Of the warmth, the closeness we share.
The stars of evening, sparkling like jewels,
Represent the memories I cherish.
The friendship remains, its future undaunted.

Daydreams and fairytales do come true.
Through the eyes of a child, the heart of a woman,
You became my knight in shining armor.
And, for one brief moment, like Guinevere,
I knew the joys and magic of Camelot.

28, How Was Your Day? © Dreamer

We are friends from far away.
When we talk we always have something to say.
Our lives so different yet the same.
Every night we play the game.
We talk of families and about our day.
I always wonder if there’s more to say.
Could it have been different for you and I?
Or was fate decided before we could have tried?
For now we play our parts, that’s all that’s left;
Never knowing if our hearts would have met.
Two people from far away, always asking, “How was your day?”.

29, Hands Off © Moonshyne

When things get too comfy,
And voices fade slowly,
Please remind me quietly
to take my hands off.

When we start moving together,
And our lips start moving closer,
Please remind me gently
to take my hands off.

When things get serious,
And talk gets intimate,
Please tell me softly
to take my hands off.

When smiles exchanged become knowing,
And we can’t seem to stop staring,
Please tell me quietly
to take my hands off.

When standing away is not an option,
And cuddling under covers is the only alternative,
Please tell me
to take my hands off.

When you are not mine to keep
and you’re not mine to love,
When lines are crossed,
hurt just seems to grow,
So when things start heating up
and passions start running high,
Please tell me gently
To take my hands off of you.

30, Just Friends © Diane Blue

We enjoy each others company
but for the most part, we avoid it.
We pretend there is nothing there.
We’re just friends.
Every time we meet, it’s awkward at first.
We check our guard and put up the walls.
We’re just friends that’s all.
We call each other on the phone,
and always have a good excuse for doing so.
Do friends need an excuse?
You remind me that “We must be careful”,
“We can’t go there”, you say.
The rules have been set,
and we live by them.

We sit and talk for hours,
two sets of blue eyes interlocked
and neither turns away.
I hang on your every word.
Your simple presence in a room,
gives my life a purpose.
Add your voice and a smile,
and I melt away.
The thought of you touching me
makes my body scream out with yearning.
But we’re just friends, right?
Why do I feel it’s more?
Are we in self-inflicted denial?
Our past hurts have made us so afraid,
We’d rather be lonely than to take that chance again.

I wish I could tell you how I really feel inside.
That I’d be willing to take that chance
To be more than just your friend.
I know you sense this, as I do,
but it’s easier to pretend.
Saying it would make it real
and you’d run away and hide from me.

So I’ll try and keep the flood gates closed
and be content that you let me be,
Just your friend.

31, When I Sleep © Tanya W.

When darkness awakens, my body settles gently into bed.
The events of my day race rapidly in my thoughts as I close my eyes.
Slowly, I am lulled into a peaceful sleep.

I hear vibrant music—so full of passion.
I feel the warmth of the sun’s rays that grace my presence.
I see kind, adoring eyes gazing back into mine.

The air is full happiness—so much laughter.
Soft caresses are exchanged.
At this moment, life could not be any more wonderful.

I have never felt so beautiful; as I do when I am with you.
I have finally found the respect and acceptance that I have yearned for.
I eagerly listen to inspirational dreams and goals
and know that I want to be the one to be there
when they are complete.

A thin line of love and friendship is crossed,
and two single souls find a home to share eternity.

Birds begin to proudly serenade the morning dawn.
Lonesome roads slowly progress into distinguished passageways.
Light peeps through my windows and I awaken to a new day.
I am ready to endure what the day has in store for me,
because I know that I am a queen,
and I know extraordinary love when I sleep.

32, To My Dearest © Cameron

You changed my world in the blink of an eye
That is something I cannot deny
You changed me from the worst to best
That is why I treasure you
You just don’t know what you have done for me
You even pushed me to the extreme
You are an angel sent from above
For me to take care of and shower with love

When I’m with you I cry not a single tear
And your touches have chased away all of my fear
You have given me a life that I could live worthwhile
It is even better everytime that I make you smile

It so magical those memories we’ve made
To bring back my sadness that always fade
Now my life is a dream come true
It all began when I laid my eyes upon you

Now I have found what I am looking for
It’s you and your love and nothing more
You always have me going back to you and walking
I ask myself how we every got to talking
In my body my heart still may melt
In my life something I’ve never felt

I wish I could talk ’till the end of day
But now I’m running out of things to say
So I’ll end by the line you already know
“I LOVE YOU” more than what I could show.

33, Our Love © Elijah Mcinnes

The first time you said “I love you”,
My heart started beating like a drum,
My ears started ringing,
I can’t believe what I’ve just heard,
What I’ve just witnessed,
Our love is finally showing,
This is one of those moments,
where you completely took my breathe away,
But I managed to say,
“I love you too”.

34, The Viking © Shannon

A powerful radiance is felt instantly.
Flames of passion dance in his eyes.
He makes my heart ache with desire.
His words are music to my soul
That fill me with love and longing.
His mind holds the wisdom of the ancients.
His heart holds compassion and love.
His lips hold a promise of sensual delights.
His arms provide security and warmth.
He is as humble as a beggar on the street,
Yet as noble as a Viking chief.
There is a sense of mystery about him;
But his life, he has opened for me to see.
He is truly a beautiful and amazing man;
He is the best of all my dreams.
I will love him throughout eternity.
With not part, but with all that is me.

35, We’re Not In Love © Tina K

So often people say they found their lover in their friend.
I just have to wonder if they’ve found a means to fit their end.
I thought I knew you for so long, but now I’ve come to see
That this man is a stranger, and you don’t remember me.

For the first time in my life I wanted someone I could keep—
To treasure me both heart and soul, to hold me in my sleep.
When I saw you I was overjoyed, my search at last concluded,
Who knew that I would come to find that I was just deluded?

Because as we grew together something still kept us apart,
I have your body and your mind, but I’ll never have your heart.
And I still wish that we could have that true love and forever,
But reality stole my happy ending, leaving me with never.

And if you asked, what would I say?
Would I dare to throw it all away?
Would yes be right? Or is it no?
But we never ask, so on we go.

And still I know that in the end,
You’re not my lover but my friend.
This is the truth that I despise
When I suddenly realize:

We’re not in love.

36, More Than Friends © Matt Whitaker

People always say that friendships should be treasured.
But I want something more with her.
My love for her could never be measured.
I only wish she could see how I feel.
So I wonder, what can I do?
Can I just be friends with her?
Or can I say to her, “I’m falling for you,”
And lose her friendship forever?
So is there any hope here or I should let my love for her end?
No matter how it all turns out, I’ll always be her friend.

37, I Knew You Well © Cindy

I knew your dreams
Because we used to talk
For hours at a time.

I knew your friendship
Because you were always there
When I needed your comfort.

I knew your pain
Because you trusted me enough
To share your past with me.

I knew your fears
Because you helped me
To see that mine were the same.

I knew what was important to you
Because you were always
So honest with me.

I knew your goals
Because I felt the enthusiasm
In your words when you talked of them.

I knew your guidance
Because you patiently explained
The things I didn’t understand.

I knew your heart
Because I saw right into it
And felt it a part of my own.

I knew your honor
Because you let me go
When I fell in love with you.

And I knew your love
Because you wouldn’t let me dream
of us together.

38, I Want To Know © Horace Whitfield

I want to know the you
That has not been introduced to anyone else.
I’m talking about the you
That you’ve been keeping to yourself.

I want to know your most recent fantasy—
You know, the one that just tickled your fancy.
I want to know each and every thought of me,
So I can lay back and contemplate bringing them to reality.

I want to know that spot
That seems to be under so much stress.
Because as a body physician, I have the answer—
It just needs to be caressed.

I want to know if that same spot
Was rubbed, licked and kissed,
Would your mind ponder
On what you could’ve missed.

I want to know what makes you happy,
What makes you sad,
What makes you sigh
And what makes you cry.

If I have to take a dive,
And explore the ocean floor,
I’ll find out
And bring it back to shore.

I want to know,
That no matter what we’re going through
Whether our lives are sunny or blue
I want to know—do I have a friend in you?

39, Jackie © Jon Macomber

play into this heart and soul
and it seems like we’ve been down this road before
and I don’t want to run into problems anymore

scary as it seems we are quite well
the best of friends can often be hell
when you feel much more for the other
than yourself

and at times I try to fight it away
but your touch makes it stronger day to day
frustrated, I only push you away

how many time has the topic come up
between us, how much I love you
and you get scared, then we don’t talk for days

silence ain’t golden for this boy
I feel alone in the world without your voice
seeing your face makes me rejoice.

don’t know what I’d do if you weren’t around
my heart hurts at just the thought
but you never seemed to really care

what of us will become
I hope you realize that I love you, hun,
and I’d never leave your side

if it were my time

40, Our Love Story © Jessica Stockinger

From the moment I saw you
It became all to clear that you were meant for me
At first you where shy
But as the days flew by I knew you were mine
As the days got shorter
And our calls got longer
It became all too clear that you had me from the start
That night you stole my heart
It took me some time to realize
But you gave me the time I needed to see
That you were my every smile
You were my every tear
You were all the things a girl could ever need
You were the boy who was meant for me
And I’ll spend the rest of my life loving you

41, Are We Still Friends? © Christine Cawley

I could have held you all night long,
I could have laid next to you forever,
But then I know tomorrow soon would come,
And still we couldn’t be together…

I went against what my head was saying,
and followed my heart through,
And instead of quitting while I was ahead,
I started falling in love with you

We had so much fun together,
the memories we made so great,
all those nights laughing and smiling,
staying up so late.

As the snow falls on the sidewalks,
I know this too will pass,
for feelings are like the seasons changing,
and one season never lasts.

So, I know this must stop now,
and tomorrow soon will come,
as we walk away and never look back,
as our warm feelings become numb.

42, I Love You, My Friend © Lynn Smiley

Shall I run or hide
And die inside
Or pretend
That I never knew you, even as a friend?

Can I go back in time,
Before your hand was in mine,
Or erase the kiss,
That I will forever miss,
Or forget your eyes
That seem to hypnotize?

Can my mind erase
The feel of your embrace?
How can I forget all of this
And pretend it doesn’t exist?

I want you to know one thing that will never end—
my love for you. I love you, my friend

43, Thinking Of You! © David Yearwood

I’m always thinking of you, that’s nothing new,
I thought of you, just yesterday, the day before that too.
For every day, good or bad, you’re always on my mind,
I hope you understand, the way I feel inside.

This isn’t just a joke, or a silly lie,
I’d never do anything, to make you cry.
I’m sorry, have I done anything, you don’t really like?
it only returns and make me sad.

I really do love, everything about you,
I hope this relationship, gets really far.
I’ll never leave you, It’s not on my mind,
in fact I’m thinking, of you right now.

You’re everything I need and everything to me,
you’re exactly who I want, in every way.
You always make me smile, it’s nothing new,
Just remember this, I’m thinking about you!

44, Friendly Love… © Boop

With your presence
I am complete.
Just your very essence
Happily my heart beats.

Our love moved mountains,
Our sky shined blue, even when gray.
Love flowed like water from fountains.
In our hearts, we love, to this day.

Now friends, but still going strong.
Our shoulders are there for each other,
When in our world there is wrong.
Our friendship—like no other.
Sometimes weird, or strange,
Somehow we pull through the hard times,
Through friendship—we grow and change.

No matter how far or how long ago,
My love will still be yours,
In time to let go.
I will always love you,
for you—I am here,
Whether in spirit, mind, body
Shall you ever shed a tear.
Your angel will always be near!

45, What should I do? © Minuk Choi

For you,
I would gladly walk a mile,
if that would give me a chance
to see you smile.

I’d call you my friend,
but that’s a lie.
You mean more to me,
but I can’t explain why.

For you are more precious to me
than all of the world’s gold,
but I can’t tell you that,
how can I be that bold?

If I spoke what’s on my mind,
would you accept me?
Because without you,
I don’t know where I’d be.

You seem to be calm,
while I feel absolutely lost.
I would like to be so bold,
but what would its failure cost?

Am I the only one faced with this choice?
Be daring and risk losing you as a friend too?
I can’t risk that; I’d rather have that then lose everything.
What should I do?

46, When Friends Go Too Far © Lesliann Gilardi

Why did we cross the line?
Everything would be fine—
One moment of pleasure
For all this pain;
Can you tell me now what did we gain?
Everything would be OK—
Normal as it was,
But no—we had to go to far—
We had to cross that line
I would never turn back time,
For every moment I learn.
It’s just things are so different now—
Things between you and me.
Why didn’t I open my eyes?
Why didn’t I only see
That what we were accomplishing
Would be the end to you and me?

47, Heart Thoughts © Jfreak

Sitting here remembering when
I saw the beauty rush out like a might wind
I never saw it before or bothered to notice
But now I see it and on it I am focused.
The gentleness of your voice
The way you make me feel
when I see your lovely smile.
The way you laugh and care for others
Even go beyond the extra mile.
I am focused on that
whether you believe me or not
My heart aches for you
And my stomach is in knots.
Now I had to declare,
The thoughts of my heart.
In hopes that you’d give me,
A place in your heart

48, Three Stages Of My Life © Ankit Modani

PART 1

She is neither my girlfriend, nor my life
But she is the only one whose company I always like

Be it I am enjoying, be it I am in tension
She knows everything and I need not to mention

She cares and scolds me like a teacher
And so protects me from future disaster

Whenever I go wrong, she tries to make it right
And sometimes we do have a cute fight

She always does right with all and expects the same
And when people don’t reciprocate she finds herself in vain

Sometimes she is naughty, but always caring
Sometimes she lets the things go but have lots of daring

She is just like a girl next door
Who wants love all around and nothing more

If you get a chance to talk to her once
You won’t forget her charisma for months

And finally let me tell you she is very good friend of mine
Whom I never want to lose in my life down the line

PART 2

She is always welcomed in my heart’s door
I don’t know, its just friendship or something more

Whatever it is, I just want to give her my best
And there is GOD to take care for rest

I wish she would become mine forever
I would give all my love to her and hurt her never

When she would understand my feelings and become mine
Then we will celebrate candle lit dine with music and wine

I don’t want my decision on her to be superimposing
But that’s my idiotic way of proposing

I am eagerly waiting for her answer
Until she replies, my heart is beating like a dancer

Even if she reply with no
I won’t let the love in my heart to go

PART 3

Although she reply neither with no nor with yes
Still she is good friend of mine so pain is less

I wish her all the very best in her future life
And may she become the world’s luckiest wife

I pray to GOD to fulfill all her heart’s desire
And always protects her from the human vampires

Whenever I had hurt her, may she forget
I wish, because of me, her eyes should never get wet

I don’t mind, if she won’t talk to me for months
But in case of any problem, she should tell me at least once

I hope she will understand me
Her friendship is my success key

She is the drug that keeps me alive
And gives me strength to control my life’s ride

These is some magic in her smile
That melts away my tension’s pile

So that was Ankush’s little cute story
With lots of emotions and less of glory

49, In A Nutshell © Sara Suvada

I think of you often
Do you think of me?
So sweet, so kind,
Do I even cross your mind?

I know your face in my mind,
I know your voice in my ears,
I think I know you,
Even through these years.

Are you my friend?
Are you my love?
That couldn’t be,
You don’t even see me.

I cry myself to sleep,
Every night my mind wanders,
If you’re not the first thing,
You’re the second thing on mind.

My eyes see you,
My heart aches,
For a love I assume,
Will someday bloom.

Who said friends could be lovers?
What were they thinking?
My love life, sinking or swimming?
It’s sinking.

I am scared
I am afraid
My life right now
Is one big show.

Episode after episode,
Re—run after re—run
Why do I love you?
Let me show you.

When you are around me
So is the thought of her
I wish deeply
You weren’t with she.

I have respect for a couple
What they share is beautiful
But what about the little people?
Whom you don’t even see?

When you are my friend
I am yours
Your company completes me
Whenever you take the time.

To tell you the words
The three “easy” ones
I have to say,
And hard in a way.

Will you be calm?
Will you hate me after?
Will you be my friend?
Or will everything end?

With love, there’s lust,
I lust for you,
I love you.
As for your thoughts on me?

50, Can I Love You? © Retina Yazzie

I gave my heart to you
I set my standards high
I laid my eyes on you,
I laughed and cried with you,
I told you my hopes and dreams,
My Love and Fears.

My tears I shed all over your shoulder.
In the end,
I came to see that you were
the only guy I could ever trust.
When I see you,
my face lights up with aspiration, and happiness.
When we talk, I can feel the load unload
with soothing words from you.

I have the feeling of love in my heart.
In my mind, I say “You don’t mean a thing.”
In my words, I say “You are just a friend.”
But in the deep end of my heart,
I think of only you

When I tell you my expectations of a guy,
You tell me never to fall short of what I want.
But only one thing stands in the way—
You are a friend.

Can I still love you the way that I do?

51, Charlie’s Eyes © Sherry Roberts

Charlie’s Eyes—what they do to me;
A color I can’t quite say,
A feeling indescribable,
Whenever I look his way.

Charlie’s Eyes—what they say to me;
A childlike quality,
That puts a smile upon my face.
Every time I look at them
They make my heart race.

Charlie’s Eyes—what they long for;
A loving feeling, so intense,
When I look into them.
It is a feeling my heart can sense.

Charlie’s Eyes—what they desire;
To give himself completely
Body, Mind, Heart and Soul,
And in return to have
These given to him;
Truly, Deeply, Willingly
for him to call his own.

Charlie’s Eyes—how they make me want him;
In every possible way.
To talk to him, to touch him,
To lust for him, to make love to him,
To know all of him inside and out,
To share our laughter without a doubt.

Charlie’s Eyes—what a wondrous thing;
I feel special he chose me
To see his eyes
The way they were meant to be.

52, A Wondering Mind © Anthony Fusco

As I sit and watch the rolling sea
I wonder if true love between us can ever be
In my heart are feelings that I can not explain
But the words that come to mind are so simple and plain
They are words like I love you, I need you, or It’s just the thought of you

But when these words come to my mind I don’t know what to do
I don’t know if I should forget it or just give it time
I wish I could keep my heart from controlling my mind
I know someday my true feelings I will find
But only when It is right and in God’s due time

53, Good Times © Gbolahan

It’s been a while now, how time flies
we enjoyed every bit in our world of lies
we were close friends but were always fighting
enjoyed our darkest night with no care for lighting
we seem so close but yet far apart
we were kids who grew up breaking each other’s heart
playing with our emotions like a piece of cake
we made each other cry even if the tears were fake
staring at each other giving ourselves a wink
no matter how wide seems the distance we still could make a link
at points where you suffered denial
I was keen at you giving it a trial
you were always laughing I wondered what was funny
even when we sat for exams your deeds were just cunning
it was this sweet before people started talking
mistaking handshake for a close hugging
they wanted more than what we were sharing
causing confusion in our setting
we had good times it lingers forever…

54, Never Meant To Be © Earthbound Angel

Softly as a gentle breeze,
Love crept into my heart
So softly I did not realize
Until we came to part.
‘Twas then that love so suddenly
Grew claws, and without warning
Clamped around my heart and left
Me bleeding and in mourning.
So stunned was I by this attack,
I did not cry out “stay!”
And, frowning at my silence,
You turned and walked away.
I never knew, until you left,
How much you’d meant to me
And now you’re gone, I guess
Our love was never meant to be.

55, Until Your Journey Is Done © Thoughtful Dreamer

All the nights we laughed and talked,
Of deepest thoughts and untold truths,
Stay on my mind as I think of you.
Your life has taken a new turn.
Bridges not yet crossed are even burned.
As you treat your path anew,
I sit on your heart as a friend,
Like a whisper kiss of morning’s dew.

As I think of your words,
Your thoughts and your voice,
I wanted to tell you to hold you head high,
And set your jaw at a determined level;
For you are deserving of much,
Despite all you may have done.
We have all sinned my friend.
We have all tested,
Then plunged deep into the water,
Of temptations,
Coming forward as wiser people from it.

Please tell me
You do not love me
Please tell me
I am nothing to you
Please, Just one word

To try to forget about you
